I have been a bit challenged by Internet access lately. I had the best of intentions to post around Valentine’s Day but did not get it done. However, I am happy to be ahead of schedule in posting for Easter, which is truly the most important day in our year. I wanted to write a song for Easter, and spent some time reading about the resurrection in each of the Gospels. I don’t mean to sound like I am in a rut, because it sure doesn’t feel that way! I just find so much inspiration in the Gospel of John. In part, no doubt, it is because I spent last year reading Lance Wubbels’ excellent book, “365 Days Through the Gospel of John” – I highly recommend this devotional.
I wrote this song based on John 20:10-16, which reads:
Then the disciples went back to their homes, but Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.
They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?”
“They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put Him.” At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.
“Woman, why are you crying? Who is it that you are looking for?”
Thinking He was the gardener, she said “Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have put Him, and I will get Him.”
Jesus said to her, “Mary.”
HE'S ALWAYS RIGHT HERE

He's Always Right Here
The woman stood weeping outside of the tomb
The other disciples had fled from the room
Two figures in white shone brilliant in the gloom
The angels said “Woman, why are you crying?!”
I’ve come for my Master, my friends had placed here
I must tend His body but they took Him I fear
Then she turned and saw her Lord, whom she held dear
And Jesus said “Woman, why are you crying?!”
Whenever you seek Him you must do your part
Reach for Him daily, just trust in your heart
In all situations, your Savior is near
You’ve never alone, He’s always right here
Like Mary, sometimes I get lost and confused
Weighed down by the world, alone and abused
But then I’m reminded of Jesus’ good news
And my Savior asks “Woman, why are you crying?!”
Whenever you seek Him you must do your part
Reach for Him daily, just trust in your heart
In all situations, your Savior is near
You’ve never alone, He’s always right here
