HE’S ALWAYS RIGHT HERE

I have been a bit challenged by Internet access lately.  I had the best of intentions to post around Valentine’s Day but did not get it done.  However, I am happy to be ahead of schedule in posting for Easter, which is truly the most important day in our year.  I wanted to write a song for Easter, and spent some time reading about the resurrection in each of the Gospels.  I don’t mean to sound like I am in a rut, because it sure doesn’t feel that way!  I just find so much inspiration in the Gospel of John.  In part, no doubt, it is because I spent last year reading Lance Wubbels’ excellent book, “365 Days Through the Gospel of John” – I highly recommend this devotional.

I wrote this song based on John 20:10-16, which reads:

Then the disciples went back to their homes, but Mary stood outside the tomb crying.  As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.

They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?”

“They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put Him.”  At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.

“Woman, why are you crying?  Who is it that you are looking for?”

Thinking He was the gardener, she said “Sir, if you have carried Him away, tell me where you have put Him, and I will get Him.”

Jesus said to her, “Mary.”

HE'S ALWAYS RIGHT HERE

He's Always Right Here

The woman stood weeping outside of the tomb
The other disciples had fled from the room
Two figures in white shone brilliant in the gloom
The angels said “Woman, why are you crying?!”

I’ve come for my Master, my friends had placed here
I must tend His body but they took Him I fear
Then she turned and saw her Lord, whom she held dear
And Jesus said “Woman, why are you crying?!”

Whenever you seek Him you must do your part
Reach for Him daily, just trust in your heart
In all situations, your Savior is near
You’ve never alone, He’s always right here

Like Mary, sometimes I get lost and confused
Weighed down by the world, alone and abused
But then I’m reminded of Jesus’ good news
And my Savior asks “Woman, why are you crying?!”

Whenever you seek Him you must do your part
Reach for Him daily, just trust in your heart
In all situations, your Savior is near
You’ve never alone, He’s always right here

Stand Your Ground

Stand Your Ground

This song was inspired by one of the most foundational passages in the Gospels, John 14:6, which reads:

I am the Way and the Truth and the Life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Stand Your Ground

by T. Heller

Lyrics

It seems today the world’s gone made
Once a faithful nation, we’ve lost what we had
How did it start, why’d we turn away?
Restore our faith, this is what I pray

Jesus told us how to make it right
He is the Way, the Truth and Light
Surrender now your life to Him alone
And find the greatest peace you’ve ever known

Stand your ground, live not in fear
I  led the way, I’m always near
In this lost world, all you have to do
Believe in Me, I have a place for you

Our cities are burning, the innocent dying
Some fan the flames with their lying
The few who stand against this dark time
They need our help, we must hold the line

Stand your ground, live not in fear
I  led the way, I’m always near
In this lost world, all you have to do
Believe in Me, I have a place for you

I’ll stand my ground, not live in fear
You led the way, I know you’re near
In this lost world, until my work is through
I do believe and I’ll follow you

Citizens of Heaven

Citizens of Heaven

In our little community church, I’ve been feeling like we are inundated lately with examples of people struggling through great losses or with loved ones facing terminal illnesses.  In response, I wrote this song, inspired by Philippians 3:20-21, which reads:

But we are citizens of heaven; we eagerly wait for the Savior who will come from heaven, the Lord Jesus Christ.  He will change these wretched bodies of ours so that they resemble His own glorious body, by that power of His which makes Him in command of everything.

Citizens of Heaven

Lyrics

I don’t know words of comfort for the loss you face
Some way to ease your pain and remind you of God’s grace
Accepting such a loss seems like more than one can bear
But trust in the Lord and don’t give in to despair

When Love came down, He revealed His many promises
And assurance of eternal life He truly gave us
For in death our wretched bodies will be cast aside
As our Savior brings us with Him to reside

Please don’t fear to leave us grieving here without you
Take the Savior’s hand and begin your life anew
In glory you will be the one truly living
For we all are born to be citizens of heaven

When my time comes, I pray for faith like Paul’s
Let me eagerly await my Master’s call
Grieve me not, but instead with me rejoice
As I take my place among God’s heavenly host

Please don’t fear me leaving you grieving here without me
I want to take my Savior’s hand and begin my life anew
In glory I will be the one truly living
For we all are born to be citizens of heaven

In glory we will be the ones truly living
For we all are born to be citizens of heaven

Grateful Heart!

Grateful Heart!

With the holiday season upon us and the uncertainties in the world today, I think we all need a reminder of of the comfort of God’s promises. I was talking to my brother on Thanksgiving Day and he related a conversation he had with a good friend, who asked him what would he be left with if all he had was what he’d given thanks to God for. What a great question, and perfect intro to a new song.

This is Grateful Heart, inspired by 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. This is such a simple, concise and wonderful passage:

Be joyful always; Pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Grateful Heart

Lyrics

My big brother called me just the other day
Just checking in, making sure I’m still okay
But God calls each of us to do our own part
He caught my attention and pierced through my heart

He said I got a serious question for you
And I want you to think on what you would do
If all else you hold dear would cease ever more
And you only had left what you’ve thanked the Lord for

May your faith fill you with joy every day
With every step you take remember to pray
You know the Father’s will for each of us
In all things you do keep a grateful heart

All that we have is provided by Him
And the greatest of all is forgiveness of sin
If you but open your eyes and look all around
All thanks be to God for His blessings abound

The Lord plans you to live a life filled with joy
While we live on this earth it’s our reason to grow
Closer to Him and in so doing find
Our hearts more Christlike, more thankful and kind

May your faith fill you with joy every day
With every step you take remember to pray
You know the Father’s will for each of us
In all things you do keep a grateful heart

If You Are The One

If You Are The One

This is one of my favorite verses, Matthew 18:12-14, which reads:

“What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost.”

So I wrote this song for the one that wandered off. I hope you like it, and that if there is a lost one somewhere that hears this, I pray you return to the fold…

If You Are The One

by T. Heller

Lyrics

Some don’t know where they belong, while others ran from home.
Some seek for answers still but they get used to moving on.
No matter where you turn, you have to pay the cost.
You’re running in the dark and you know that you are lost.
Jesus told us long ago about the shepherd and his flock.
Ninety-nine safe on the hill but one has wandered off.
The shepherd cannot rest until he finds his wayward stray.
In the same way God awaits for those who’ve lost their way.
If you are the one feeling lost and all alone,
Looking for your way, no place to call your own
Return now to the fold, it never is too late.
The Shepherd calls you still…
if you are the one.

You think no one really knows you, but Jesus knows your heart.
He’ll reside there if you ask Him and lead you through the dark.
He’s waiting for you still, He’ll never give you up.
The Shepherd, He still grieves for the one who wandered off.
If you are the one feeling lost and all alone,
Looking for your way, no place to call your own
Return now to the fold, it never is too late
The Shepherd calls you still…
if you are the one.

In Him Alone

In Him Alone

Inspired by John 16:33:

“I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Lyrics

Our Master warned us long ago that we’d know trouble.
The path through the narrow gate yields its portion of sorrow.
We may suffer here but we’re assured a better tomorrow.
Rest in His promises for He gave us His word.
He is real, grace has a face and offers love unending.
His plan for every soul leads to joy and rebirth.
Christ lives today inside every true believer.
In Him alone will you find peace on this earth.
We are not promised a life filled only with sunshine.
Disciples are forged by trial as believers
Jesus walked this land to light the way for us.
He overcame the world and conquered the deceiver.
He is real, grace has a face and offers love unending.
His plan for every soul leads to joy and rebirth.
Christ lives today inside every true believer.
In Him alone will you find peace on this earth.
He lit the way to show the path to love and peace.
We each have a purpose in His plan and in His will.
Trust in the Savior and lean on His compassion.
He’ll show the way, in Him alone you’ll be fulfilled.
He is real, grace has a face and offers love unending.
His plan for every soul leads to joy and rebirth.
Christ lives today inside every true believer.
In Him alone will you find peace on this earth.
